The Anesthesia Department of Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz is currently training and educating skilled professionals in the field of anesthesia, with 5 full-time specialized faculty members and approximately 10 permanent clinical instructors. The department provides clinical training opportunities for its students in 6 specialized and super-specialized educational and treatment centers: Golestan, Imam Khomeini (RA), Razi, Abu Zar, Ayatollah Taleghani, and Sina hospitals, which serve as teaching hospitals for the university.

 

Anesthesia students in this department undergo a diverse range of internships and clinical rotations in general surgery operating rooms, open-heart surgery rooms, transplant surgery rooms, burn units, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, as well as in angiography centers, radiology departments, and ECT units. These clinical rotations follow a pre-determined schedule and are aligned with their academic curriculum.

Professional interaction with health team members, nursing units, blood bank, radiology, etc.

 Participating in the practical training of anesthesia technicians and related service staff.

Educating patients before and after anesthesia.

 Collaborating in approved practical research studies from academic authorities.

 Recording patient information.

 Preparation (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and calibration).

Maintaining and using medical equipment and devices according to relevant standards.

Participating in the evaluation and preparation of the patient for related procedures.

Assisting the anesthesiologist in the induction of anesthesia and regional anesthesia, maintenance, and awakening of the patient.

Participating in anesthesia and pain management procedures.

Participating in the management of the patient's airway.

Monitoring and caring for the patient during various stages of anesthesia in different surgical procedures.

Monitoring various bodily systems during and after surgery, including fluid and electrolyte management, blood transfusion, and using common medications under the supervision of the anesthesiologist.

Participating in critical care procedures in the resuscitation team, ensuring safety in the operating room and anesthesia, including: prevention of injuries from operating room pollutants, inhaled gases, volatile substances, combustion explosions, electric shocks, and other related injuries.

Monitoring potential anesthesia complications and reporting them to the anesthesiologist.
