About the Faculty           

 

               

This faculty was established in 1972 ( 1351 in the Iranian calendar ) through the merger of the departments of Laboratory

 Sciences, Radiology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, under the name "Faculty of Hospital Sciences," which was later

 renamed to "Medical Technology" and eventually "Allied Medical Sciences."

 

In 1974, the Department of Nutrition was added; in 1976, the Department of Public Health; in 1977, the Department of

 Biomedical Engineering; and in 1984, the Departments of Anesthesia and Physiotherapy joined the faculty's educational

 departments. During the 1980s and 1990s, as the Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Public Health expanded,

 they were separated from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and became independent as the Faculty of Pharmacy

 and the Faculty of Public Health, respectively.

 

Currently, the faculty admits students in the following programs and degrees:

(Bachelor’s, Master’s: Health Information Technology and Medical Informatics)

Medical Library and Information Science

(Bachelor’s, Master’s)

 

At present, the Dean of the Faculty is Dr. Amir JamshidNezhad from the Health Information Technology department.

The Vice Dean for Education is Dr. Ali Khalafi, a respected faculty member from the Department of Anesthesia,

and the Vice Dean for Research is Dr. Javad Zarei from the Health Information Technology department.
